If you are looking for an affordable and effective skin care products, The Ordinary is the brand for you. As the creators mentioned in their recent newsletter, the rapid success of the brand was quite of a surprise for them.
The Wayne Goss haul has been given some credits for that. And we have to admit, it is Wayne’s video which got us to google their azelaic acid in the first place.
The Ordinary: NO for overpriced skin care
The high prices for mono-ingredient facial oils seem to bother us all. Obviously, selling products below the threshold of profitability does not make sense. But The Ordinary proved that if you do give people a good product which is going to be available for both young girls and busy mums on a tight budget, you will sell out very quickly.
So fast that we are still waiting for the azelaic acid and retinol ordered in November 2016. The products we are showing you today were just a part of the order. But it is OK. They will be delivered eventually.
If you read our reviews you know, we do not sugar coat anything. Even the low price doesn’t matter if you will not use the product you have bought. Out of the three products we have tried already, two deserve an honest recommendation.
100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil – 30ml for £5.90
The argan oil is one of the most versatile beauty products you can have in your vanity set. This cold-pressed organic oil can be applied all over your body, including your face. We recommend it as a night time treatment. It is perfect for a facial massage!
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 – 30 ml for £5.90
If you want to plump your skin and minimise the appearance of your fine lines, the hyaluronic acid is a solution for you. This one is great for underneath the makeup. It melts into the skin immediately after application. The downside is it doesn’t want to cooperate with more emollient creams. It makes them roll over it slightly, but it works great in combo with the moisturiser below or light daytime creams.
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA – 30 ml for £4.90
The formula is very light and absorbs very quickly. However, without an extra boost of hydration from the hyaluronic acid, it can be insufficient to give you adequate moisture level. But the application directions on the box do advise to apply it after serum for an effective surface hydration.
Besides Wayne Goss recommendation, a high purity ingredients and fragrance-free formulas are one of the key factors why this brand got our attention. We also love the simple packaging design.
