City Color Highlight Trio palette contains three stunning highlight shades. In an era of the in-the-face glow, this might be a perfect budget friendly palette for you. It might be. But before you start to google the online shops, read our review to know pros and cons of this exquisite face illuminator.
The shades in questions do not have their custom names. We can describe it as the very bronzy, followed by more than champagne colour and at the very right – the super strange, almost purple highlight. And although this colour compilation is not suitable, in our opinion for our fair skin tones, it might be a perfect option for the women with olive and even darker skin tones. Especially that it is a product to be used on top of the cheekbones, nose end wherever you like to apply your highlighter 🙂

Not exactly wat we go for every day.
Oh so buttery
The huge plus of this palette is the highlighter consistency. We have praised the buttery formulation fo the City Color eyeshadows in our previous reviews. You can expect the same from this highlighters. Why? Cause there is a huge probability that it is, in fact, the same product!
We of curse do not have 100% certainty. Maybe the formula is slightly different. But you can have a look at the picture below, of the Highlight Trio and Spicy Me Up Eyeshadow Collection (review here).
Please forgive us the off colours of the pictures in this post. They were made at night with artificial light.
Even with a kinda shitty light, you probably can point the corresponding eyeshadow shades, right? Thought so.
We are not super outraged by this; we are just sharing our observation 😉
As you see both shine and pigmentation are very pleasing to the eye. The intensity of shades is the reason why we recommend it for darker skin tones. Even the lightest, middle shade was not flattering on our super pale faces.
We are forced to use it as the addition to our eye makeup looks. When the extra shine is needed of the final oomph.
But you are probably going to love it if your skin fits one of the undertones behind these highlights. The reason why we are so focused on your skin tone is the intense pigmentation of each shade in this palette. So even when you blend it the place where you put the highlight is going to be visible, becasue fo this background pigment shade.
The upside is they do blend like a dream. All shades melt into the skin evenly without uneven distribution of shiny particles, as some highlighters do.
This amount of shine can bring the unwanted attention to your skin’s imperfections if you have any. But this is the case for the most of the highlights, regardless their price range.
The palette costs slightly more than 6$ (here in the Netherlands at makeupmusthaves.nl €8,95). So you see why it is blowing our socks off!
