Today’s post is going to be dedicated to two of the new brow-defining products. For me as a starting makeup artist sometimes it ‘s hard to work with my friends/clients eyebrows with the pencil available in high-street shops. I am looking for a long lasting formula that is fast and easy apply. Which one is better, DIPROW Pomade or Brow Definer?
Anastasia Beverly Hills a solution for amazing eyebrows!
Anastasia Beverly Hills brow product range is probably one of the most praised online. I have decided to try it out. Unfortunately, the brand is not available in Poland. But my sister got them for me from abroad, so yay 🙂
The eyebrows get lots of attention these days. So much that they have a special place in the haters hearts already. Personally, I share the obsession with others. I love well shaped and defined eyebrow. My sister on the other hand just stopped to plug hers off. I quite like this Bert-like look too.
Is eyebrow makeup so important?
Eyebrows are critical for face; they are its frame and at the same time, can add some character to the features and the person herself. Eyebrows’ shape effects on our look, whether it’s rested, well-groomed or on time. We are fortunate enough today, to have a broad range of possibilities when it comes to products to choose from. The only task we are left with is to find the one, which suits our demands.
Starting from colourless gels and conditioners which are designed to tame and strengthen hair. Finishing with the waterproof heavily pigmented paints. The only thing limiting us is our imagination. What is not always good. But hey, we are not here to judge. It is just makeup so as long as it makes you happy, go ahead!
DIPBROW POMADE IN TAUPE
DIPBROW Pomade is with us for about a year and a half. I cannot recall any other product which would get so much attention and positive reviews in 2015. At first, there were five shades in the range. Currently, the company offers 12 shades, what increases the chances of finding that one, perfect shade.
Pomade has the consistency of slightly heavier mousse. The top layer dries gently, but I always use the brush so it doesn’t make much difference in its application. Pomade dries quite quickly on the brush and even faster on the skin and eyebrows.
The pigmentation to die for!
Pigmentation is excellent. I only need a tiny bit to make both my eyebrows. I think four grammes of the product in the jar, is going to last for a long time. Pomade is ideal for filling in the gaps between the hair. It’s nice for the everyday look. It only takes few strokes with the brush and TADAM; I was done. The application is even, nor rolling product. I can easily control the amount of the applied cosmetic. And the effects are great!
If however, it happens that you put too much product on, the excess can be easily removed. All it takes is a cotton pad with makeup removal and few spoolie strokes.
Intended stronger brows make impression especially with a party look. We don’t have to sacrifice many hours on our makeup! Nowadays it all can be about the eyebrows. Some contouring and lipstick to balance the look. And with Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW Pomade on your brows, you can dance all night long!
BROW DEFINER IN TAUPE
So I love the Pomade. Now let me share my thoughts on the Brow Definer.
It is a semi-hard pencil. Personally, I find it to be too hard. It allows creating different effects, the slightly-touched-by-the-color eyebrows but also more defined look. It is not as intense as achieved with the Pomade. Maybe it’s due to the chosen colour, but Brow Definer in Taupe has without a doubt weaker coverage. Unfortunately, my eyebrow makeup fade out a bit after few hours.
Go for the Brow Definer for better precision!
When I wanted to get more definition out of the Definer, I had to put some energy in it. Dozens of strokes in one place. In the end, I ended up with my eyebrows falling out. Applying more pressure does not change the product pay-off so don’t try that at home.
If you have weak and thin eyebrow and still want full definition maybe pick up a different product, with softer formula.
I could make the product softer by holding it between fingers. What probably led to its damage. My pencil broke at the base. Buhu. At least I am satisfied with the spoolie which is soft and helps to blend the product.
Below you can find both products swatches. As you can see in the picture, Definer’s Taupe version is in a slightly warmer shade.
Which product works better for me?
One way or the other, I am glad, that I had the chance to test both cosmetics. That gives me the possibility to chose the best variant for me to work with. Now I already know that I can invest in more shades of Pomade. The fact that it does not make me lose my eyebrow has a lot to do with it.
The application is easy. The final look can be natural or intense, depending on the occasion and the mood. I am not giving up pencils. I should simply pay attention to the ones with a softer consistency.
