With the new beauty product launches taking over the stores everywhere, we want to share a review of a product we have been testing for a while. So that you know that it is not, yet another, hyped gadget of the season.
More than contouring palette
The Smashbox #Shapemmaters Palette is more than just a contour kit. Inside of the black plastic packaging, you will find products for your eyebrows, face and eye makeup. This developed with Sephora Pro Artist palette deserves its 4 out of 5-star rank at Sephora.com. The big high-quality mirror inside and attached double-ended brush adds a bit of value to this set.
In our opinion, it could hit the maximum score if it wasn’t for the brow part of the kit. The transparent brow gel can be of use, of course, if you are the fan of this type of consistency. However, the two coloured powders (shades Taupe and Soft Brown) are barely pigmented and incredibly chunky. We would advise doing your eyebrows before the rest of your face with them so that you can clean up possible fall out.
The contour – where the magic starts!
We just cannot get over the fact how finely milled those powders are! Ahh, beauties. Face contouring with powders requires almost zero makeup skills. All you need is a brush of your choice. The are easy to blend, and the contour colour is suitable for a fairest of skin tones. The bronzing powder lacks shimmery particles, which works great for gals with more oily skin.
Cherry on the cake – eyeshadows <3
Out of nine eyeshadows, only three have the shimmery finish. And there is nothing better than beautiful matte eyeshadows, isn’t it? Given shades are a part of the award-winning range of Smashbox’s Photo Op Eyeshadows. And the awards were given for their bendability. We would give Smashbox additional award for this if we could 🙂
Just have a quick look at the swatches below. It is amazing how there are no patches whatsoever. Naturally, the swatches do not give away the actual quality and final appearance on your eyelids. You could see how intense and gorgeous the dark shadows look like, at Magdalena’s eye makeup pics below.
The colours are intense and stay that way for many hours. The Blackout shade is perfect as an eyeliner when you use it with a damped brush.
The contour was done light handed. Obviously, if you are a fan of cutting that cheekbone you can do it without a fuss.
What is a bit of a downside is the price of the palette for us beauty fans in Europe. Here in the Netherlands, this palette is available at Douglas.nl for more than 65€. And you dear readers in the USA can have it for 55$.
I mean, where is the justice here?
Ok, we know about taxes and all that jazz.
Nevermind. It is a darn good palette 😉
